What is Gardening with Skip?

“Gardening with Skip” is a weekly news segment provided free of charge by Texas Cooperative Extension to Texas television stations. No hidden agenda; our only goal is to give tv viewers practical gardening advice from a seasoned professional.

Skip Richter is our gardening guy. For 15 years he’s helped keep thumbs green on everything from lawn care to landscaping. Now he’s offering to branch out to your local station!

Skip is a county Extension agent with on-camera experience in the Austin market. His friendly, easy-going manner makes him a natural for morning, noon, 5 o’clock or weekend shows. In addition, Skip can call upon A&M researchers and specialists, providing interviews and information from the some of the top horticulture experts in the world.

To help brand Skip to your local tv stations, we can provide custom tools for them. Each segment runs approximately 90 seconds.

We hope to make Skip exclusive to one station in every Texas market. You can view our affiliates page to check for participating stations in your area. In an effort to prepare our County offices for possible queries, we will be providing agents with transcripts of the segments each month. You will also be able to download these or view the videos directly from this site. We’re sure Skip will grow on you.

To take advantage of this unique opportunity, simply contact Mark Cornelius or Jerrold Summerlin at 979.845.2211. See you soon!
