Transcript: Choosing Garden Tools

When it comes to getting a job done right, it helps to have quality tools.

You can buy inexpensive tools; they bend, break and are frustrating to work with. They just don't last long. It's better to invest in a quality tool that will last you a lifetime.

These forged forms of the garden spade and fork are good examples. They have strong tines. They'll last. They're built to last. If you oil them when you put them up for storage, it will prevent the rust and they will be a lifetime investment.

They also come in forms that are more ergonomically designed. This one has a curved handle. It's a little easier on the wrist and the hand in digging. And it has a curved stainless steel blade that moves through the soil very well. It's also a narrower blade, so when you're not trying to move a large quantity of soil, it's easier to dig with this.

It just makes sense to buy a quality tool and to take care of it so it will last a lifetime.

With your common sense tip on selecting quality gardening tools, I'm Skip Richter.
