Transcript: Fall Blooming PlantsIn spring, we have a lot of great, colorful flowers that do well in our landscapes. But by mid to late summer, they may be frying in the sun and turning to toast.Well, you can still have great color in late summer and fall if you'll just mix in a few of our late summer to fall late blooming plants. Let me tell you about a few. Firebush is a great option. It blooms very well into late summer and early fall and, as the weather starts to cool, the leaves take on a nice burgundy tinge which is really quite attractive. Another excellent choice is Mexican Bush Sage. It produces spikes of purple blooms, some forms are white and purple, others all purple. They make excellent dried flowers and are an excellent plant for the landscape. Mexican Mint Marigold produces yellow blossoms and the leaves are a very nice fragrance, something like anise and licorice and are often used in cooking as well. Copper Canyon Daisy is a deer-proof plant. It has strong aromatic foliage that is a scent somewhere between pine and citrus, if you can imagine that, producing beautiful yellow blossoms into the fall and on into the cool season. Flowering senna is a small shrub or very small tree that produces beautiful yellow blossoms. And then there's fall obedient plant with lavender to pink blossoms, quite attractive in the landscape. With your common sense tip on great ways to bring color into your landscape, I'm Skip Richter. download
